• s.

PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT
DESIGN & DEUELOPMENT
DECEMBER 1978
Palm Park
The small shelter being constructed toward the rear of Palm Park is now
nearly complete. All that remains is to pour the concrete expose aggregate
floor and complete the construction of the picnic tables and benches in
the shelter. The shrub bed areas have been prepared for planting and
the contractor is now awaiting the delivery of the plant material to
finish this portion of the project.
Canyon Park
The State Clearing House has now completed their review of this project
and the necessary documents have been forwarded to the State Department
of Parks & Recreation for their final review. The application for State
funds from the SB174 Block Grant Program should receive prompt approval
after which the advance for planning funds for the project will be requested.
Hawes Park Re-Lighting
The City Council , at their meeting of December 18, 1978, approved the con-
tract with T.H. Rogers, Electrical Engineer, in Berkeley, California, to
proceed with the preparation of plans and specifications for this project.
In that Mr. Rogers is also preparing the plans and specifications for the
re-lighting project at Red Morton Community Park, it is felt that these
two projects can be bid at the same time in order to possibly reduce the
cost of both projects. This is being investigated with respect to timing
and the possible economies with the hopes that both projects would be ready
for bidding possibly in March or April .
-5-
