He further indicated that the Committee is consider- <br /> ing several alternatives, one being to create another category which would <br /> provide for this type of community based civic organizations. Commissioner <br /> Schlesinger suggested that the Commission postpone acting upon this request <br /> until th e next meeting so that they may have the recommendatian of the Opera- <br /> tional Policy Committee. Mr. Weeks mentioned that the Committee's recommenda- <br /> tion might necessitate not only Commission action but Council action as well and <br /> that the Club needed some assurance that they would be able to utilize the <br /> facility for a specified amount of time. He suggested that the Commission <br /> could grant an extension for a specific time period thereby enabling the rec- <br /> ommendations of the Operational Policy Committee to be adopted and implemented. <br /> Commissioner Schl,esinger inquired as to whether having the Kiwanis utilize the <br /> building had presented any particular problems to the Department. Mr. Weeks <br /> stated that there had been no problems in that the noon time activity does <br /> not seem to conflict with other higher priority activities. , <br /> MOTION: Cor�nissioner LJeintraub moved to extend the Redwood City <br /> Kiwanis Club's use of the Cor�nunity Activities Building <br /> for a period of three months, second by Commissioner <br /> Rollins. The motion carried unanimously by a voice <br /> vote. <br /> REPORTS <br /> REPORT ITEM 1 . Desiqn and Development Com�ittee Report <br /> MOTION: Commissioner ��leintraub moved to accept the Design and � <br /> Development Committee Report, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Wilson. The motion carried unanimously by a voice <br /> vote. <br /> Mr. Weeks mentioned that he had met with Architect Kingford Jones, selected <br /> for the Senior Center study, and had reviewed the Senior Center Project. He <br /> is now awaiting a letter outlining how the project might be approached for <br /> contract purposes. He further indicated that the contract probably would be <br /> prepared on an hourly fee basis. <br /> REPORT ITE�1 2. PrOgram Committee Report <br /> MOTION: Commissioner Rollins moved to accept the Program <br /> Committee Report, seconded by Commissioner Schlesinger. <br /> The motion passed unanimously by a voice vote. <br /> REPORT ITEM 3. Monthly Reports <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that the Phase 2 drawings for Mezes Park were nearly <br /> completed and that he anticipated the project be prepared to go to bid on schedule. <br /> He further indicated that a meeting was pending with the Bay Conservation and <br /> Development Cor�nission relevant to park development in Redwood Shores. Vice- <br /> Chairman Pound inquired as to when pending BCDC apqroval of the plans might be <br /> ready for Council review. Mr. Weeks stated that barring any other problems he <br /> hoped to be able to present the concept plans to Council around the middle <br /> of February. <br /> -2- <br />
