RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> FEBRUARY 1976 <br /> Center Operations & Special Interest Classes <br /> Classes continued through the month of February . Several of the new classes , <br /> including Drawing & Crafts for Children , Modern Jazz Dance for Girls , Tap <br /> Dancing , Creative Drawing Workshop , Quiltmaking , Knitting , and Macrame Plant <br /> Hangers , were very well received . <br /> Red Morton Community Center <br /> Junior High Discotheque <br /> One hundred seventy-five students attended the dance on February 6th at the <br /> Community Activities Building and danced to music provided by Steve Road ' s <br /> " Rock Around the Clock " . <br /> Skate Night <br /> The Red Morton Center was opened up for roller skating and skate boarding to <br /> Junior High students on Wednesday night , February 11 . Over 150 students <br /> participated in this fun program of skating and games <br /> Volleyball Marathon <br /> The Junior Class at Sequoia held a volleyball marathon at the Red Morton Center <br /> on February 20 , 21 , and 22 , with over 100 students participating . Proceeds <br /> went to support the Junior Prom . <br /> American Indian Council <br /> Five months ago the Center added a student from the American Indian Council <br /> to the Staff . Some of her duties were to check out equipment , answer phones , <br /> take messages and meet the public . The teens and center staff benefitted from <br /> her cultural background and found the experience rewarding . <br /> NOON PROGRAM <br /> Hoover Junior High <br /> Embroidery classes were taught , four soccer teams were organized and are now <br /> playing , a dance was held with 150 students attending , and a faculty volley- <br /> ball game was held . <br /> McKinley Junior High <br /> This school is doing particularly well in the area of communication development , <br /> since they have a good working relationship between the students , Student Council , <br />
