Bustos inquired as to whether the city could provide a gymnasium which his <br /> organization could use for night practices . It was pointed out that the city <br /> did not have a suitable facility , but that one might be available through the <br /> high school district or Canada College . Mr . Weeks suggested that Mr . Bustos <br /> contact the department staff , who will attempt to assist in finding such a <br /> facility . He additionally encouraged Mr . Bustos to initiate contacts with <br /> neighboring communities who have lighted facilities and with the county and school <br /> district . <br /> MOTION : It was moved by Commissioner Pound and seconded by <br /> Commissioner Aldrich to refer to staff the request <br /> for facilities from Asociacion Civil Hidalgo . The <br /> motion carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> It was agreed that the Department staff would arrange a meeting with all soccer <br /> groups to discuss facilities and schedules . <br /> AGENDA ITEM 2 . Review of Plan for Turfing Belmont Elementary School Site - <br /> Redwood Shores <br /> Mr . Weeks indicated that the City has now reached an agreement with the <br /> Belmont School District regarding the turfing at the elementary school site in <br /> Redwood Shores . He reminded the Commission that negotiations regarding this <br /> project have been going on for almost two years . He indicated that the final <br /> action to be taken before the project could be advertised for bid would be <br /> approval by the school district board and the Redwood City Council . <br /> Mr . Weeks briefed the Commission on the Redwood Shores neighborhood meeting , <br /> which was held to fully explain the project to those residents who lived immedi - <br /> ately adjacent to the elementary school site . He indicated that those who had <br /> attended the meeting generally seemed pleased that the project was beginning . <br /> He also informed the Commission that a petition had been circulated among resi - <br /> dents whose property backed up to the school site , and that the response had <br /> been overwhelmingly favorable to the project . <br /> Utilizing a site layout plan Mr . Weeks then briefed the Commission on the pro- <br /> posed construction and some of the provisions of the agreement . Mr . Weeks <br /> estimated that there would undoubtedly be some use of this area by late summer . <br /> REPORTS <br /> REPORT ITEM 1 - Bud9et Committee Report <br /> Mr . Weeks briefed the Commission on the economic climate with respect to the <br /> availability of funds for the Capital Improvement Program .
