eliminate the time -consuming quick coupler and hand-watering requirements
for these areas .
The spring renovation and preparation of the swimming pools for the coming
swimming season has been initiated at Community Park Pool and Hoover Pool .
At Community Park Pool the pumps for the water circulation system and the
filter system are being prepared for summer requirements and the pool is
being repainted . At the Hoover Pool it was necessary this winter to install
a new water distribution system resultant from severe corrosion , and overhaul
one of the main circulation pumps . The interior of the pump room at the Hoover
School Pool was completely repainted in order to conform with the OSHA regulations .
The pool is now available to the school districts for their scheduled swimming
activities as a part of their school program before April .
The Park Division maintenance and repair crews completed the interior renova-
tion of the Redwood Shores restroom as the result of extensive vandalism
damages . Additionally , they installed a drainage system adjacent to the Red
Morton Recreation Center to carry off excessive water from the sidewalk
areas . The restroom facilities at Stulsaft Park were repaired , which was
also a result of vandalism . New foul lines were installed at Bechet , Griffin ,
and McGarvey Fields in Community Park . These foul lines consist of two -by-
fours entrenched into the soil , which results in a permanent marking for the
foul lines .
Park Division personnel assisted with the Arbor Day activities , which were
held March 7th at the Main Library in the Civic Center . A tree was planted
on the Library grounds in memory of the City Historian , Richard Schellens .
-9 -
