TO : Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM : Operational Policy Committee
Chairman : Commissioner Rollins
DATE : May 10 , 1976
SUBJECT : PROGRESS REPORT
The Operational Policy Committee met on May 10 , 1976 .
Commissioners Rollins , Knecht and Weintraub were present .
The Committee met to continue their discussion with res -
pect to the various clubs and organizations ' qualifications for co-
sponsorship . In accordance with the co - sponsorship policies and
procedures those groups and organizations that are applying for co -
sponsorship status yet are lacking in various areas for full qualifica -
tion for co - sponsorship are to be reviewed by the Committee for recommenda-
tions to the staff .
The staff indicated that there are seven groups currently
applying , and the biggest problem existing with these groups is meeting
the resident requirements for co - sponsorship . Upon reviewing the various
applications and the status of these groups , the Committee felt that the
resident requirements should not be waived , and that the groups be given
ample opportunity to meet these requirements together with a few of the
others which they were lacking . The staff reported that these deficiencies
were minor and that it was felt the groups could comply . However , there
may be a problem in their complying with the resident requirements .
After a rather thorough discussion of the applicants , the
Committee recommended that the groups be given until January 1 , 1977 to
comply with the provisions of the policy and that they be so notified by
letter . The staff will follow through with this recommendation and will
assist the groups as much as is possible in their efforts to meet the
basic requirements for co - sponsorship .
- 7 -
