We have been very impressed by the <br /> thoroughness of the report and in it ' s effective manner of presenting a great <br /> amount of background and supporting data . <br /> As an organization interested in all aspects of recreational boating , we <br /> would like to offer some thoughts and suggestions that have resulted from our <br /> review of the Report . While we are interested in all features of the Develop- <br /> ment Program, we will restrict our comments to those features that most directly <br /> affect recreational boating . <br /> In order to convey to you the priority of our concerns , we will cover them. <br /> in order of priority. <br /> or- <br /> 1 . We see the development suggested by the preliminary plans for <br /> waterfront restaurants in the area between Charley Brown 's and <br /> Wharf 5 as having a potentially adverse affect on our Junior Sail- <br /> ing Program . This program is part of our overall boating program <br /> for young people to teach boating safety, boat handling and sail- <br /> ing . The program is open to all young people between the ages of <br /> 10 and 18 years of age and has wide recognition as one of the out- <br /> standing programs in the Bay Area . Currently there are 80 young <br /> people active in the various phases of the program . As noted above , <br /> the Junior Sailing Program is open to all young people, and draws <br /> a large number of young people from the general public in the Red- <br /> wood City sphere of influence ° They meet the 1st and 3rd Saturdays <br /> of each month . <br /> We envision potential problems because : <br /> a . The area of the present turning basin out to Channel <br /> Marker No . 22 near Wharf 5 is the best part of the harbor <br /> area particularly for beginning students . Classroom <br />
