PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT <br /> JULY 1976 <br /> Redwood Shores Park Development <br /> The salt water intrusion test project has now been completed and the <br /> data is being assessed relative to the needs for a subterranean drain- <br /> age system for the park areas . <br /> A meeting was held with the staff of the Bay Conservation Development <br /> Commission in compliance with their request to review the final plans <br /> for the Marlin II Park over which they have partial jurisdiction . The <br /> final construction drawings were reviewed and with the exception of <br /> one or two minor changes , it appears that approval from BCDC to pro- <br /> ceed with the project will be granted . <br /> Barring further unforseen circumstances , current schedules indicate <br /> that a call for bids for the parks will take place the last of August <br /> or the first part of September . <br /> Belmont School District Site - Redwood Shores <br /> The final inspection for acceptance from the contractor for the instal - <br /> lation of the turf area and softball diamond is scheduled for August <br /> 4 , 1976 . During the contractors maintenance period , several areas of <br /> turf have been replaced in preparation for the final inspection . The <br /> area appears to be in good condition and it would appear that final <br /> acceptance can be made . <br /> Palm Park <br /> The construction of the first phase of development of Palm Park is <br /> moving along very well . The irrigation system has been installed and <br /> the sidewalks and concrete curbing for the play area have been completed . <br /> A final grading is now underway together with soil preparation for the <br /> seeding of the area . <br /> Mezes Park <br /> Bids were received for the Phase II construction of Mezes Park on <br /> July 6 , 1976 . There has been some delay in awarding a contract due to <br /> a request by the low bidder to withdraw because of errors in his bid . <br /> This matter is being handled by the City Attorney and it would appear <br /> that the Council will be requested to award the contract to the second <br /> low bidder at their meeting of August 2 , 1976 . Construction should be <br /> underway with the project by the middle of August . <br /> -8- <br />
