This area was not involved in <br /> the reconstruction of the facility dunovation and�rcgrading�willnprovide�a <br /> at Red Morton Park and, therefore, re The re rading will correct <br /> more uniform outfield area for the facility. 9 <br /> some minor drainage problems and will strengthen the turf conditions on the <br /> field. <br /> With the return of the football season, the portable fencing araund the <br /> 49 Field was installed and was r.overed with the burlfPeld wasealso renovated <br /> security during the practice sessions. The playing <br /> which included the resodding of worn areas resultant from sumner use. <br /> Considerable progress has been made by the Park Division's building and <br /> facility maintenance crew in nearly completing the irrigation installations <br /> at the various islands and circles throughout the City. This program has <br /> eliminated hand watering and some truck watering of these areas. The only <br /> remaining work to be done on these projects is the installation of electrical <br /> services and the initaal programming of the irrigation conDuaneeand HopkinSeas <br /> currently under construction include Veterans Cul-de-sac, <br /> Circle and Laurie Duncan Parkway. Qids for this electrical work are being <br /> solicited. Upon the completion of these projects, efforts will be directed <br /> to initiate conversion of manual irrigation systems in some of the park <br /> areas to automatic systems which will eliminate the need for manu�l instal- <br /> lation of quick-coupler valve equipment for irrigation. <br /> The building and facility maintenance crew has also nearly completed the <br /> necessary repairs and renovation of the playground equipment that was found <br /> to be damaged, vandalized or missing through the utilization of a newly created <br /> playground/park area safety check--list system. This system was initiated <br /> by the Department's Safety Committee and is now in operation. Other safety <br /> check-list systems which were initiated through the Department's Safety <br /> Committee and are now in operation include a vehicle and motorized equip- <br /> ment safety check list and a small equipment inspection system. <br /> The complete renovation and reseeding of the lawn area at Fire Station #3 <br /> was completed by park crews during the month. <br /> -9- <br />
