With the slow down of <br /> classes in August, the cus,;.c}:�ia� staff is attempting to bring the building <br /> mai ntenance standards bac4: ��i: to par. <br /> Veterans Memorial Building <br /> The senior citizens put on an lrts and Crafts Show on August 27th from <br /> 12 noon to 7 p.m. in the Gold Star Room. Many handmade items were on <br /> display: stuffed animals and dolls, oil and water color paintings, antique <br /> indian doll collection, woodwork items, etc. It was enjoyed by the public. <br /> A Senior Br•idge Tournameni: was heldoo30Aa9mstto112 noonhe Afteoodunohm• <br /> Half-hour rounds were played from <br /> half-hour rounds were played until 2:30 p.m. Winners received cash <br /> prizes from the entry fees. <br /> Red Morton Center <br /> August r.ancluded the Red Morton Center Summer Program. The program was <br /> designed to serve the leisure needs of the young people from tiny tots to <br /> teens. It was our goal that in addition to having fun and having some- <br /> thing to do each day, the participant would feel better about himself as <br /> a result of his or her involvement in our programs. It was our intent <br /> to build and reinforce within the individual a sense of individualism, <br /> high self esteem and �ositive self image through recreation and leisure <br /> activities. The staff of the Red P1orton Center felt that to a large <br /> extent these goals were accomplished. The volunteer orogram was espe- <br /> cially helpful and worthwhile this surnmer and m�ny young people donated <br /> long hours to the Center. <br /> - 10- <br />
