At the conclusion of the film , Chairperson Pound thanked the club for
all of their efforts and stated that on behalf of the City of Redwood
City , the Parks and Recreation Commission was extremely proud to accept
this gift .
Mr . Weeks asked members of the club to provide the Commission with more
details regarding their forthcoming Salon Show . Mr . Warren Weinstock ,
speaking for the club , said that the show , which would be held at the
Veterans Memorial Little Theater , was an annual event and that the Parks
and Recreation Department receives 10% of the profits . This year ' s pro-
gram included two films that were winners of the "Open to the Public "
contest recently sponsored by the club . All other films were produced
by members of the Peninsula Movie Makers . Mr . Weinstock said that the
program would be approximately 90 minutes in length with a 15 minute
intermission .
In addition to the Salon Show , Mr . Weinstock briefed the Commission on
a cix- session course on movie making which was beginning October 20 .
Sessions would be held in the Veterans Memorial Building and members
of the club would serve as instructors .
Commissioner Knecht inquired whether the Peninsula Movie Makers could
in any way assist in providing a public address system throughout the
various rooms of the Veterans Memorial Building . Mr . Weinstock replied
that the club would be very interested in working on such a project and
that he should be contacted after a more detailed assessment of the needs
was completed .
Commissioner Weintraub inquired as to whether the Peninsula Movie Makers '
instructional classes received any publicity in the Department ' s Fall
Recreation Schedule . Mr . Weeks replied that the Department was not
aware that the club was intending to conduct these instructional ses -
sions . Had the Department been aware , every attempt would have been
made to promote that activity .
Chairperson Pound commented that it was highly informative to have a
co- sponsored club appear before the Commission . She suggested that per-
haps on occasions when there was a short agenda , other clubs could be
invited to appear and brief the Commission on what they are about .
AGENDA ITEM 2 . Review and Discussion of Recent State Legislation
Regarding Parks and Recreation Interest
Mr . Weeks indicated that the Department was attempting to keep current
on legislation that had a relationship to the parks and recreation move-
ment . He said that Administrative Assistant Ferrando had been keeping
tabs on several recent bills and would review them for the Commission ' s
benefit .
- 2 -
