Civic Cultural Commission <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> May 1 , 1975 Page 2 <br /> Mn Buickerood then introduced Mrs . Kimiko Jonsson and Sally <br /> Hartman . Sally said Kimiko is a ballet instructor and that <br /> each year she has put on a recital that far exceeds the usual <br /> dance recital as an artistic event , and they felt they should <br /> involve the Cultural Commission in this year ' s performance . <br /> Mrs . Jonsson gave a review of her background ° She has studied <br /> with Mn Balanchine , has trained dancers for the New York City <br /> Ballet Company , and has directed the Pacific Ballet ° She works <br /> four days a week for the Atherton Recreation Department , con- <br /> ducting classes in ballet . She likes to start children in <br /> ballet at the age of seven , but also teaches pre- ballet students ° <br /> The Ballet Recital , called " Dancelebration , " will be held at <br /> Canada College Auditorium June 14 and 15 from 4 : 00 to 5 : 45 , p . m . <br /> Rental for the auditorium is 0120 , covering lighting and tech- <br /> nician services . Part of the program will be televised on <br /> Channel 9 prior to the performance . She invited the Commission <br /> members to attend both the performance and the reception after- <br /> ward0 # <br /> 20 San Mateo County Choral Society Concerto Mr . Ferrando <br /> showed an article which had been published in the REDWOOD CITY <br /> TRIBUNE . He said apparently everything is in readiness for the <br /> concert . <br /> 5 . Mr . Ferrando reported for Mr . Weeks on the San Mateo <br /> County Arts Council ' s proposal regarding the City Spirit Pro - <br /> gram of the National Endowment for The Arts . Mr . Weeks at- <br /> tended a meeting on April 28 , at which the grant proposal was <br /> presented . Mr . Weeks has written Mr . Nemoyten indicating that <br /> the Cultural Commission has reviewed the proposed project , <br /> supports the proposal in concept , and agrees with the main <br /> thrusts of the program . <br /> 4 . Library Project ; Mr . Vollmayer said the plans for the <br /> Library remodeling have now been approved by the various City <br /> departments and are in the hands of the architect . Hopefully , <br /> work will begin about the first of June . Mr . Buickerood said <br /> there might be a possibility of hiring an artist from SEATAO <br /> The guests left the meeting at this time and the attention of <br /> the Commission was turned to Item 2 of the Agenda . <br /> AGENDA ITEM 2 - Report on Meeting of Community Arts Agencies <br /> Seminar in San Diego (Mr . Buickerood ) <br /> The meeting was held in the Del Coronado Hotel in Coronado , <br /> which is a very interesting old hotel and is named in the <br />
