CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> March 4 , 1975 Page 3 <br /> The rest of the evening was devoted to Agenda Item 1 ( Discussion <br /> of Goals and Objectives ) : <br /> 1 . Mr . Dragan said he believes the joint use of the <br /> Sequoia High School Auditorium should be pursued . <br /> 2 . Showmobile <br /> 3 . Art Show for Downtown Area <br /> 4. Arts Festival - music , dance , etc . <br /> 5 . Mr . Dragan reported that the Downtown Committee mentioned <br /> they would like to have the Commission involved when the <br /> downtown section is opened . <br /> 6. Mr . Weeks mentioned that the Commission should continue <br /> to be involved in other City commissions and committees <br /> and should try to have a member appointed to the Archi- <br /> tectural Review Board . <br /> 7 . Mrs . Howitt mentioned that our group might become more <br /> effective if more citizens were involved on subcommittees . <br /> Mr . Weeks said that when the goals are established , they <br /> can be carried out on a subcommittee basis . <br /> 8 . Mr . Buickerood mentioned that a long- term objective <br /> would be to have a paid director . Mr . Weeks -said he <br /> would like to see the Commission ' s work develop to the <br /> extent that a staff specialist could be justified . <br /> 9 . Sponsor and organize an all-youth show of some kind : <br /> art , dance , music , or a combination of these . <br /> 10. Marcia mentioned the Jordan Art Show and wondered whether <br /> it would be appropriate for the Commission to give them <br /> a word of encouragement . Mr . Weeks said the Commission <br /> must guard itself against becoming allied with any com- <br /> mercial enterprise . It can , however , recognize the <br /> endeavor and one of the commissioners might be asked to <br /> judge the show. <br /> 11 . Become involved in some way with the Arts and Flower <br /> Show . <br /> 12 . A program might be initiated in the schools with regard <br /> to Redwood City history. Mr . Buickerood mentioned that <br /> there is an "Arts in Action " program , and Mrs . Poncia <br /> said she is a volunteer in that program and would like <br />
