CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION Minutes of Meeting March 4 , 1975 Page 3 The rest of the evening was devoted to Agenda Item 1 ( Discussion of Goals and Objectives ) : 1 . Mr . Dragan said he believes the joint use of the Sequoia High School Auditorium should be pursued . 2 . Showmobile 3 . Art Show for Downtown Area 4. Arts Festival - music , dance , etc . 5 . Mr . Dragan reported that the Downtown Committee mentioned they would like to have the Commission involved when the downtown section is opened . 6. Mr . Weeks mentioned that the Commission should continue to be involved in other City commissions and committees and should try to have a member appointed to the Archi- tectural Review Board . 7 . Mrs . Howitt mentioned that our group might become more effective if more citizens were involved on subcommittees . Mr . Weeks said that when the goals are established , they can be carried out on a subcommittee basis . 8 . Mr . Buickerood mentioned that a long- term objective would be to have a paid director . Mr . Weeks -said he would like to see the Commission ' s work develop to the extent that a staff specialist could be justified . 9 . Sponsor and organize an all-youth show of some kind : art , dance , music , or a combination of these . 10. Marcia mentioned the Jordan Art Show and wondered whether it would be appropriate for the Commission to give them a word of encouragement . Mr . Weeks said the Commission must guard itself against becoming allied with any com- mercial enterprise . It can , however , recognize the endeavor and one of the commissioners might be asked to judge the show. 11 . Become involved in some way with the Arts and Flower Show . 12 . A program might be initiated in the schools with regard to Redwood City history. Mr . Buickerood mentioned that there is an "Arts in Action " program , and Mrs . Poncia said she is a volunteer in that program and would like
