CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION Minutes of Meeting May 5 , 1977 Page 2 AGENDA ITEM 1 - Presentation by Miss Jean Nixon of Proposed Library Mural Cont ' d the redwood logging industry which was important to Redwood City in early times . The sketches were presented and explained by Miss Nixon . She indicated that she hoped to have the canvas painting finished within a three -month period so final approval could be considered * Mr. Weeks indicated that Miss Nixon should prepare an estimate of the materials she would need so that proper funding could be provided at the appropriate times ( Mr . Krueger arrived at 8 : 33 , p . m .. ) Upon the arrival of Vice Chairman Krueger , Mr . Weeks relinquished the chair to Mr . Krueger. REPORTS : 1 . Arts & Crafts Show It was pointed out by Commissioner McKay that the radio station KLOK , in San Jose , presented an excellent com- mercial for the arts and crafts show o Other publicity was quite adequate for the event , Mr . Weeks informed the Commission that there had been some unauthorized selling of turquoise and Indian jewelry which had not been hand -crafted by the artist . However , upon investi - gating the matter and talking to the artist , the materials were removed from the display area . Aside from this inci - dent , no other problems were being experienced with the show , and it appeared that the event was progressing satisfactorily . 2 . Operalunch Program It was the consensus of the Commissioners that the Opera - lunch Program was a huge success and was - being very well received by the public as well as by the merchants . It was pointed out that the desire was expressed by several of the merchants to hold a fall series of the Operalunch with which the merchants will participate and perhaps share the cost . This will be investigated and the details will be reported at a subsequent meeting. 3 . Quilting Show Recreation Supervisor Sally Hartman reviewed the publicity and the applications which have been prepared for the
