CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> May 5 , 1977 Page 2 <br /> AGENDA ITEM 1 - Presentation by Miss Jean Nixon of Proposed Library <br /> Mural Cont ' d <br /> the redwood logging industry which was important to Redwood City <br /> in early times . The sketches were presented and explained by <br /> Miss Nixon . She indicated that she hoped to have the canvas <br /> painting finished within a three -month period so final approval <br /> could be considered * Mr. Weeks indicated that Miss Nixon should <br /> prepare an estimate of the materials she would need so that proper <br /> funding could be provided at the appropriate times <br /> ( Mr . Krueger arrived at 8 : 33 , p . m .. ) <br /> Upon the arrival of Vice Chairman Krueger , Mr . Weeks relinquished <br /> the chair to Mr . Krueger. <br /> REPORTS : <br /> 1 . Arts & Crafts Show <br /> It was pointed out by Commissioner McKay that the radio <br /> station KLOK , in San Jose , presented an excellent com- <br /> mercial for the arts and crafts show o Other publicity <br /> was quite adequate for the event , Mr . Weeks informed <br /> the Commission that there had been some unauthorized <br /> selling of turquoise and Indian jewelry which had not <br /> been hand -crafted by the artist . However , upon investi - <br /> gating the matter and talking to the artist , the materials <br /> were removed from the display area . Aside from this inci - <br /> dent , no other problems were being experienced with the <br /> show , and it appeared that the event was progressing <br /> satisfactorily . <br /> 2 . Operalunch Program <br /> It was the consensus of the Commissioners that the Opera - <br /> lunch Program was a huge success and was - being very well <br /> received by the public as well as by the merchants . It <br /> was pointed out that the desire was expressed by several <br /> of the merchants to hold a fall series of the Operalunch <br /> with which the merchants will participate and perhaps <br /> share the cost . This will be investigated and the details <br /> will be reported at a subsequent meeting. <br /> 3 . Quilting Show <br /> Recreation Supervisor Sally Hartman reviewed the publicity <br /> and the applications which have been prepared for the <br />
