Sandy Cooperman, President of the Library Foundation, stated that they will be <br />raising the funds for the opening collection. She stated that the Foundation has <br />formed a partnership with the Redwood Shores Community Association and they <br />are working together to raise the funds. She stated the delight in this opportunity <br />and urged the Council to approve. <br />Lynn Kathleen Adams, speaking as a resident and private citizen of Redwood <br />Shores since 1993, applauded the efforts of the City Council and all work that the <br />Library Foundation will be doing to bring a branch library to Redwood Shores. She <br />stated that it will be an asset to the community to be able to read and research, <br />availing itself to the many resources from preschoolers to senior citizens. She <br />urged approval of the agreement. <br />Council comments included that this State grant was made possible through the <br />community process that was exhaustive and interesting and all should take credit. <br />Thanks were given to the groups previously mentioned as well as Vice Mayor <br />Pierce for her leadership, Magda Gonzalez and Library staff for their work. <br />Recommendation <br />M/S Ruskin /Foust to approve and authorize execution of the agreement with the <br />California State Library providing $10.1 million State Library Bond grant funding. <br />The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.
