7.2.A. - Page 23 TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND <br /> SAN MATEO COUNTY FIRE IAFF LOCAL 2400 <br /> RE: SUCCESSOR MOU <br /> one and four tenths (1.4) hours for every one hour of vacation leave taken. Such <br /> appointments and accrual credit shall not exceed ninety (90) calendar days, except by <br /> mutual agreement between the Union and the City. This provision does not apply to those <br /> employees who are assigned to a light duty assignment due to a non industrial injury or <br /> illness. <br /> 9.6 Vacation Scheduling <br /> Sign up will normally commence on November 1ctduring the first two weeks in November <br /> of ch y ar for the following year. Sign up shall be according to seniority in rank on each <br /> shift. The senior Fire Captain and the senior Fire Fighter /Engineer will make their pick, <br /> then the second senior Fire Captain and the second senior Fire Fighter /Engineer will make <br /> their pick, etc., until all personnel on that shift have made their first pick. Subsequent <br /> rounds will be made in the same fashion. Each round must be completed before moving on <br /> to the next round. <br /> Vacation selection will be allowed in increments of one (1) hour. If a vacation of less than <br /> twelve (12) hours is requested and approved, the employee requesting the short leave shall <br /> enter the leave into the Department's automated scheduling softwaremay be required to <br /> find his /her own relief depending on relief staffing available. The relief person will be paid <br /> the appropriate overtime, with approval. <br /> Forty -eight (48) hours advance notice is required for vacation requests. One hundred <br /> twenty (120) hours advance notice is required for cancellations except in an emergency. <br /> Any requests made less than forty - eight (48) hours in advance for leave, or one - hundred <br /> twenty (120) hours in advance for cancellations, will be approved only at the discretion of <br /> the Battalion Chief. <br /> No more than four--five (4 5) employees per shift, irrespective of rank, may be on vacation <br /> leave at the same time. Upon request, the Fire Chief or his or her designee may permit a <br /> sixth (6th) person per shift to be on vacation at a given time. <br /> During annual vacation picks and thereafter, if applicable, Fire Captains and Fire <br /> Fighter /Engineers may select the following Holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and <br /> Christmas. However, the employee(s) requesting the respective Holiday leave may be <br /> required to find his /her own relief depending on relief staffing available (i.e. "less than 12 <br /> hour leave" rule). The employee requesting the respective Holiday leave may also utilize <br /> individuals on the existing OT sign up list in Telestaff to secure relief. The required <br /> paperwork must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the requested leave or the leave <br /> will not be approved. The relief person(s) will be paid the appropriate overtime, with <br /> approval. <br /> Ops Manual Section 7.5 is dedicated to Personnel Time Off. This section will include all <br /> rules pertaining to leave selection. Changes to this Ops Manual section will only be made <br /> with mutual agreement between the Fire Chief and the Union utilizing an agreed upon <br /> procedure. <br /> Page 19 of 19 <br />
