Mr. Fales remarked that, for <br /> example, it is not efficient to use the time of secre- <br /> taries and the machine operator to substitute on the <br /> switchboard when they could make better and more eco- <br /> nomical use of their time in the jobs which they were <br /> hired to do. <br /> Account No. 463 was approved as submitted. <br /> City Manager - Account No. 570 <br /> (Community Promotion) (pp 14-15) <br /> rime <br /> Discussion concerned whether funds should be allocated <br /> to the Peninsula Celebration Association for the Bi- <br /> centennial Celebration and the Miss Redwood City Pageant. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Henderson moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Norris, to include in the budget an allocation for <br /> the Bicentennial Celebration that would be transferred <br /> out of the Revenue Sharing allocations presently for <br /> library audio-visual equipment in an amount not to ex- <br /> ceed $3,000, and that before any disbursement is made, <br /> the Council will have an opportunity to review the <br /> entire budget for the Bicentennial. <br /> Discussion followed and staff responded to questions <br /> concerning the desirability of designating the library <br /> program as the source of the proposed $3,000 contribu- <br /> tion and the desirability of establishing a Bicentennial <br /> project with long lasting value . <br /> Pete Hughes, PCA, reminded Council that the PCA was <br /> designated in 1973 as the Bicentennial Coordinating <br /> ,,.,. Committee and advised that an active committee is work- <br /> ing on the project now.
