15 <br /> Capital Improvements Program - General City (continued) <br /> The motion failed on the following roll call vote : <br /> Noes <br /> '• Ayes: Councilmen Barrett, Henderson, Leipzig, <br /> Ayes <br /> Williams and Mayor Weymouth <br /> (See page 34) <br /> Nees : Councilmen Norris, Rhodes <br /> (The Council recessed from 11 :55 a.m. to 1 :40 p.m. ) <br /> Capital Improvements Program - Police Protection <br /> City Manager Fales advised that provision has been made <br /> for installation of a new heating system in the Police <br /> Building to replace the current inadequate system, and <br /> it is hoped the project will qualify for special funding. <br /> Capital Improvements Program - Fire Protection <br /> MOTION : Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Leipzig, to eliminate $75,000 from the Budget for <br /> Fire Station #5 land acquisition. <br /> Discussion followed concerning whether developers could <br /> be required to provide sites for such items as fire <br /> stations along with neighborhood parks and whether the <br /> land must be acquired at this time for the future Redwood <br /> Shores station. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> Capital Improvements Program - Parks and Recreation <br /> Red Morton Community Park <br /> MOTION: Councilman Leipzig moved, seconded by <br /> Councilman Rhodes, to reduce the amount budgeted <br /> for planning for Red Morton Community Park by <br /> $245,000, allowing the balance for the paving of <br /> the Dickey Street parking lot. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the possibility of <br /> increased costs later, if the City does not proceed <br /> with Phase III now as previously planned and the fact <br /> that the park is now usable, although certain items <br /> might be constructed now to improve use conditions . <br /> AMENDMENT TO MOTION: Councilman Barrett moved, <br /> seconded by Councilman Williams, to restore to the (See <br /> Budget too- <br /> Se -be--Seffi3ved., the restroom facilities, picnic page 34) <br /> area and bocce ball court at a cost of about $25,000. <br /> The amendment carried by majority voice vote . <br /> Discussion followed and Mr. Fales replied to ques- <br /> tions concerning the difficulty to be encountered <br /> in attempting to obtain similar funds next year if <br /> the funds returned to the capital outlay fund are <br /> used to accelerate the Downtown Project as has been <br /> suggested. <br /> -15- <br /> Budget <br /> Study <br /> 6/7/75 <br />
