32 •
Consent Calendar (continued)
Claim : C. Eugene Flick, 215 Clarendon Road,
Burlingame ; property damage allegedly caused
when narcotics agents entered premises. Recom-
mend denial and refer to insurance carrier.
(MINUTE ORDER NO. 75-110)
Approval of warrants nos. 13, 954 through 14,100,
totaling $178,836. 52.
The motion carried unanimously by roll call vote .
Oral Communications
Mayor Weymouth announced that the public hearing on the
proposed Annual Budget for 1975-1976 will be held on
Monday, June 16, 1975 at 7 :30 p.m. and that persons
present who have indicated they wished to speak on
budget related matters at this time may do so, but
Council members will not comment and no action will be
taken.
1. Wendy Redford, San Carlos, urged Council to recon-
sider action taken at the Budget Study Session of
May 31, 1975 to discontinue operation of the police
boat and eliminate maintenance costs from the pro-
posed budget. Mrs . Redford suggested lives may be
saved because of use of the boat.
2. Pete Uccelli, Pete ' s Harbor, spoke in favor of con-
tinuing City operation of the police boat, noting
that contrary to statement made by a citizen at
the May 31, 1975 Budget Study Session, the boat is
not in competition with either Pete ' s Harbor or
Al ' s Marine Store, and is an asset to boaters. Mr.
Uccelli suggested presence of the boat is a deter-
rent to potentially careless boat operators. Mr.
Uccelli offered to provide free haulouts for boat
maintenance and to pull and reinstall engines in
conjunction with a state offer to pay for renova-
j tion of the engines.
3. Al Caesar, Al ' s Marine Store, stated that he does
not run a rescue service as stated by a citizen as
reported in the Tribune, although he has assisted
the Coast Guard at their request. Mr. Caesar urged
Council to continue operation of the police boat,
observing that many boaters would assist with the
police boat on a volunteer basis .
4. Herbert I. Magee, Commodore, Peninsula Yacht Club,
stated his concern for safety if the police boat is
withdrawn from service, observing that it is a de-
terrent to irresponsible boat owners. Mr. Magee
suggested grants may be available to assist the
City in cutting costs of operation.
5. Kerins O 'Conner, stated he is a taxpayer in Redwood
City because of a business of which he is part-owner.
-6-
Reg.Mtg.
6/9/75
