Mr. Fales <br /> called attention to the narrow time schedule and the <br /> desirability of getting people into jobs while the pro- <br /> gram is still available. <br /> MOTION : Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Norris that : 1) Redwood City become a program agent <br /> for CETA Title II and Title VI programs, noting that the <br /> City is automatically a program agency unless it is <br /> stated otherwise and a motion stating intent is sufficient; <br /> and 2) the City Council approve the Manpower Program sub- <br /> mitted by the City Manager with his report of July 17, 1975 <br /> which includes a contractual arrangement with the Bay Area <br /> Urban League to administer the plan. <br /> Mr. Schricker advised that the agreement with the Urban <br /> League would be returned to Council for actual approval <br /> at a future date . <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO. 75-143) <br /> Consent Calendar <br /> Mayor Weymouth announced that in response to a request <br /> he had received, the items relating to agreements with <br /> the Community Education Center and with San Mateo County <br /> Economic Opportunity Commission and PROBE Community <br /> Center would be considered separately when the Consent <br /> Calendar is before Council. <br /> In response to question with regard to the trade-in price <br /> offered for the used vehicle in connection with the pur- <br /> chase of a replacement one-ton four-wheel drive truck for <br /> the Fire Department, City Manager Fales advised that em- <br /> ployees do not have and may not have any special oppor- <br /> tunity to bid on the vehicle being traded and that the <br /> trade-in offer is also reflected in the total purchase <br /> price of the replacement vehicle . Acting Director of <br /> Buildings and Transportation Balsamo described the capa- <br /> bilities of the new vehicle . <br /> In response to question regarding the claim concerning <br /> damage to a bicycle allegedly caused by an unprotected <br /> storm drain grate, Mr. Fales offered to investigate the <br /> status of the City' s program to eliminate such potential <br /> hazards. (memo 7/22/75) <br /> In response to question regarding the item relating to <br /> the operation of the "Section 8, Existing Housing Program, " <br /> Mr. Fales advised that the City has an option to carry <br /> out its own program or to renew when the agreement is <br /> terminated. <br /> In response to question regarding the item requesting ex- <br /> tension of a Planned Development Permit by Tehaney Con- <br /> struction Company, Planning Director Schroeter advised <br /> that the planned project has not been commenced, and the <br /> -6- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 7/21/75 <br />
