132 <br /> Mayor Weymouth observed that he had purchased his home <br /> from the applicant twelve years ago and was advised by <br /> Mr. Maloney that he could vote on the application also. <br /> Betty Gourley, 315 Carlos Avenue, described the present <br /> residential development on Leahy Street in the two- <br /> block area encompassing the proposed development, noting <br /> that there is no open space in the area. <br /> Mayor Weymouth invited anyone else present who wished <br /> to speak to do so. No one present wished to speak. <br /> MOTION : Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Leipzig, to close the public hearing. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> The public hearing was closed at 7 :47 p.m. <br /> MOTION : Title having been read, Councilman Barrett in- <br /> troduced the following resolution and moved, seconded <br /> by Councilman Leipzig, its adoption : <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7478 CONDITIONALLY APPROVING APPLI- <br /> CATION FOR PLANNED DEVELOPMENT PERMIT RELATING TO <br /> REAL PROPERTY IN THE VICINITY OF CARLOS AVENUE AND <br /> LEAHY STREET IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> Discussion followed and Planning Director Schroeter re- <br /> plied to questions concerning provision for parking in <br /> the area of the proposed development, stating that in <br /> general the parking situation is better than in most <br /> such developments. Mr. Schroeter noted that it is <br /> characteristic of townhouse developments that parking <br /> is adequate for normal use, but may not accommodate <br /> additional automobiles in case of many visitors or <br /> parties. <br /> In reply to Council question, Parks and Recreation <br /> Director Weeks advised that a study of the area with re- <br /> gard to open space has been prepared in response to <br /> Council direction relating to a petition from residents <br /> of the San Carlos/Leahy neighborhood. Mr. Weeks called <br /> attention to a later item on the Agenda concerning that <br /> study (see below) . <br /> A. D. Gourley, 315 Carlos Avenue, asked to speak. Mayor <br /> Weymouth advised that members of the audience had been <br /> invited to speak and when no one wished to do so, the <br /> public hearing was closed . Mr. Gourley stated that he <br /> wished to reply to the Council inquiry regarding parking <br /> made after the closing of the hearing. <br /> In response to question from Mayor Weymouth, Assistant <br /> City Attorney Maloney advised that the Council could <br /> reopen the public hearing, but that Mr . Gourley might <br /> speak to provide information requested by Council. Mayor <br /> Weymouth then asked Mr. Gourley for his information. <br /> Mr. Gourley advised that provision may have been made for <br /> parking of automobiles in the present developments on <br /> -2- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 9/8/75 <br />
