158 <br /> RESOLUTION NO 7499 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR INSTALLATION OF <br /> SUPPLEMENTARY FENCING IN THE VICINITY OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br /> MUNICIPAL SERVICES CENTER, REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED, <br /> AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote <br /> Parking limitations on Broadway <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of October 2, 1975 re- <br /> garding parking limitations on Broadway and attaching memo from <br /> the Director of Public Works also dated October 2 <br /> In response to Council inquiry regarding the possibility of en- <br /> acting the proposed ordinance immediately, City Attorney Schricker <br /> advised that if the Police Chief were to advise Council of circum- <br /> stances which constitute an emergency with regard to the need for <br /> the proposed ordinance, then an emergency ordinance would be appro- <br /> priate, but absent that finding, 30 days must elapse following <br /> adoption of the ordinance before it becomes effective Mr Schricker <br /> observed that some of the Broadway area is under construction and <br /> that the parking limitations will probably become effective before <br /> parking can be allowed on the street in those areas <br /> Discussion followed and Council and staff commented concerning the <br /> desirability of having merchants insist their employees park else- <br /> where than in the places designed for short term parking for their <br /> customers <br /> MOTION Title having been read, Councilman Williams introduced <br /> the following ordinance and moved, seconded by Councilman Norris, <br /> its approval <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20 96 7 OF DIVISION 1 , ARTICLE VII , <br /> CHAPTER 20, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING <br /> TO PARKING LIMITATIONS ON PORTION OF BROADWAY IN THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY <br /> In response to question, Mr Fales advised that the County is now <br /> sending a representative to meetings of the Downtown Action Commit- <br /> tee, and it is hoped the portion of the parking problem caused by <br /> county government employees and jurors will be solved He described <br /> recent favorable results of Joint cooperation with the county re- <br /> garding parking and traffic <br /> Sal Pastore, Artistic Cleaners, 1772 Broadway, requested installa- <br /> tion of a ten minute zone in front of his store for the use of <br /> prospective customers and requested enforcement of the zone <br /> Director of Public Works Pusich advised that the proposed ordinance <br /> does not affect the 1700 block of Broadway and that it is the in- <br /> tention of staff to enforce the already existing green short-time <br /> zone in front of Mr Pastore's establishment <br /> The ordinance was approved unanimously by roll call vote <br /> (The Council recessed from 8 28 to 8 37 p.m ) <br /> -4- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 10/6/75 <br />
