227 (Council recessed from 12 15 a m to 12 25 a.m. ) Public Hearing - Annexation of Parkwood 101 (see above, page 2) MOTION CHANGED- Councilman Henderson moved, seconded by Council- - man Norris, to continue the public hearing on Annexation of Parkwood 101 to 4 00 p.m. , December 29, 1975, at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue. The motion carried unanimously by roll call vote (MINUTE ORDER NO. 75-246) Housing Concerns Committee Recommendations re Low/Moderate Income Housing Councilman Norris, Chairman of the Housing Advisory Committee, referred to the report of the City Manager dated November 17, 1975, to which were attached minutes of the Housing Concerns Committee of November 4, 1975 and November 12, 1975, and memos from Councilman Norris on behalf of the Committee, relating to General Site Location and Builder for Low and Moderate Income Cooperative Project - Redwood Shores (dated October 23, 1975) and Supplemental Report - Low and Moderate Income Housing (dated October 24, 1975) The cover report by Mr. Fales summarized the recommendations of the Housing Concerns Committee, as follows. 1 ) that the first phase of the low and moderate in- come housing project be located in Area #1 (Housing Advisory Committee recommendation was Area #2) , 2) that the total eight acres ultimately be developed within Redwood Shores. The con- cept of selling all or a portion of the eight acres for the purpose of developing a project for low and moderate income persons in downtown Redwood City was rejected. Discussion followed, and members of the audience were invited to comment. Ron MacQuarrie, 551 Keelson Circle, who had served as a member of the Housing Advisory Committee commented with regard to the site selection and urged that Site 2 be retained, in considera- tion for existing owners, and also because development could proceed more quickly in Site 2 because of its zoning designation. Ron Kunkel , 446 Trident, indicated that he disagreed with the See Page decisions of the subcommittee. 232 Larry Irons, 105 Atherwood, commended the subcommittee for their efforts, and urged approval by Council of the recommendations Bruce Albin, 569 Compass Circle, spoke in opposition of low/ moderate income housing in Redwood Shores Clifford Boxley, 3568 Rolison Road, past member of the subcommit- tee, spoke in support of low income housing in Redwood Shores. -9- Reg Mtg. 12/15/75
