Plan & Profife:The Joint Treneh Plan & Profile will be at 1"=20' scale, with 1"=10' enfargements at key
locations. Plan & Profile sheets at 1"=20 scale will result in approximately 22 sheets, including side
streets. loint Trench details will be initiated for the 65% submittal but not completed until the 95%
submittal. The 65% plans will show the joint trench pr4file but will not have detailed callouts to avoid
extra effrt as the profile is adjusted for the 95%submittal. Existing utilities are shown on the ptan view
based on the utility field mapping performed under a separate agreement. The profiles of the existing
utilities will be focused on the utilities adjacent to and crossing the joint trench. The gravity lines will be
proled per the survey and the dry utilities/water lines wil! be profiled per the available record plans or
documented assumptions. Many of the existing utilities witl be Shown in more detail on the 9596 prafiles
as more mapping is obtained. Rotholing may be necessary per the Optional Services to determine the
profi{es of unrecorded existing utitity crossings. The Form B information will be completed under a
separate task described below and the Form 6 information will be entered onto a plan table in
conjunction with typical$ections.
P/an Enlarpements- Joint Trench Plan Enlargements of utility vauits and conduit congestion will be
prepared for key locations as determined by the engineer as necessary to clearly define the work. The
enlargements will show the proposed utility vaults/boxes, main joint trench, conduits sweeping in and
out of new utility vaultsfboxes, limits of excavations, extent of curb and gutter removal and
replacement, extent of sidewalk/driveway removal and replacement, and limits of demolition within the
enlargement area and utility trench labelling for each segment within the enlargement area.
Details: Cansultant will include details for joint trench equipment, including: PG&E #7 Vault, PG&E #5
Vault, PG&E #3 bvx, PG&E #2 box, PG&E #1 box, Comcast boxes, AT&T vaults and manholes, and
Astound boxes.Additional details such as crossing over or under an existing utility wiil also be included.
Trench backfill details will be included for a typical trench section ineluding surface restoration. Details
will be started for the 65%submittal,but will not be complete at this stage.
Minor UtiJitu Reloeations: During the design of the Jaint Trench it is anticipated there will be minor
relacation af City wet utilities. xampies of minor utility relocations are storm drain lateals, vertical
offsets in water lines, sanitary sewer laterals, water meters and water services, re laterals, fire
hydrants, irrigation modifications at street crossings, street light and signal conduits. Design for
relocation of main lines for water, sanitary sewer and storm mains are not anticipated to be included in
this task. These existing utilities will be identified to be relocated privr to the installation of the joint
trench. Tree trimming may also be included as an early site preparation work prior to Joint Trench.
Surface Rstoration:The Surface Restoration pians will include temporary curb relocations or temporary
bulbouts to protect new utility vaults that are outside the existing sidewalk. These plans are not
intended to show the future streetscape impravements, but the surface restoration will be coordinated
with the City's Middlefiefd Road streetscape project. It is assumed that curb ramps and bultouts will
not be upgraded to current standards since the Middlefield Road Streetscape project will be current or
immediately after the MUUD Project. Surface Restoration Plans will show the temporry sidewalk,
temporary curbs, temporary ramps and driveway replacements to City standards, restriping of street,
tee trench sections for AC paving replacement, and median replacement at street crossings.
Landscape & frripation: Replacement of park strip areas and median planting areas is expected to be
limited and the design will avoid significant impacts to existing landscape. The median planting areas
may be impacted at select joint trench street crossings south of Woodside Road. The basic services
assume minor landscape restorations will be handled with civil constructian notes for bidding purposes.
Also, the utility modification plans will have performance notes for reconnection of disturbed irrigation
lines. Landscape architecture is included as an optional service if more extensive landscape and
irrigation design is needed.
REV:02-24-15 VR
ATTY/AGR.2015.037/Bellecci&Associates-Middlefield UUD
