Planning Commission recommendation re Planning Commission record transmitted 6/26/80 <br /> proposed street name change from "Harbor <br /> Boulevard" to "Seaport Boulevard" (Councilman Leipzig left the Council Chambers <br /> at 8:20 p.m.) <br /> Planning Director Schroeter commented and re- <br /> plied to questions relating to the Planning <br /> Commission considerations in recommending the <br /> subject street name change; whether or not <br /> there is any historical significance to the <br /> present name; the investment of any businesses <br /> on the street in advertising and stationery <br /> using the present name; the fact that an <br /> effective date for a street name change can <br /> take such investments into consideration rather <br /> than have a change become effective immedi- <br /> ately; whether or not the new "Seaport Village" <br /> development will open and operate as antici- <br /> pated; whether there is any urgency in making <br /> a name change at this time; the lead time re- <br /> quired for freeway signs in working with <br /> CalTrans; and the fact that if unanticipated <br /> events should occur which might cause the <br /> proposed name change to become undesirable <br /> before the effective date, that Council has <br /> the power to make changes. <br /> Dennis L.
