ar <br /> 2. Redwood City Obligations. As consideration for the <br /> granting by San Carlos of permission to Redwood City to install, <br /> operate and maintain a water transmission main line in San Carlos, <br /> Redwood City shall perform the following: <br /> (a) Provide three valved connections for emergency <br /> fire fighting purposes to the California Water <br /> Service Company water system along such water <br /> transmission main line, including active fire <br /> hydrants at the following locations: <br /> (1) Brittan Avenue and Old County Road; <br /> (2) Bransten Way and Industrial Way; <br /> (3) Sky Way and Pico Boulevard. <br /> (b) Restore the "Petromat" pavement on Bransten Way in <br /> those areas affected by Redwood City's construction <br /> activities. <br /> (c) Require that the contractor selected by Redwood City <br /> to perform such construction supply a San Carlos <br /> off-duty police officer at a location selected <br /> by San Carlos for the purpose of directing traffic <br /> in highly traveled areas along the proposed route <br /> of the water transmission main line. <br /> (d) Schedule the crossing of the water transmission main <br /> line in the vicinity of Howard Avenue and in the <br /> vicinity of Lenkurt Company in August, 1980. <br /> (e) Maintain adequate access to, or alternative access <br /> for, all businesses along the proposed route of <br /> the water transmission main line. <br /> (f) Provide and install a gate for entry to San Carlos <br /> property located on Bransten Way to alleviate <br /> parking problems caused by this construction. <br /> (g) Maintain liaison with all businesses along the <br /> proposed route of the water transmission main line <br /> to minimize the impact of this project by direct <br /> contact and by means of fliers. Such fliers shall <br /> contain the names and telephone numbers of personnel <br /> of Redwood City who will direct and supervise the <br /> construction and contractor' s staff who will perform <br /> such construction. <br /> 3. Maintenance Responsibilities. Redwood City shall be <br /> exclusively responsible for the maintenance of the water trans- <br /> mission main line in San Carlos. In furtherance of Redwood <br /> City's maintenance responsibility, no connections to the water <br /> main transmission line will be permitted other than those <br /> mentioned in paragraph 2 of this agreement, unless prior approval <br /> -2- <br />
