Patricia Dixon, 16 Admiralty Place, Redwood City, asked that code enforcement materials be sent out in the water bi!!s, and encouraged staff to get the private sector involved in code enforcement efforts. Don Saye, 2021 Broadway, Redwood City, discussed the need for more shopping cart abatement measures with emphasis on making the owners responsible. Mary Rose Scott, 931 Round Hi!! Road, Redwood City, member of the Pride and Beautification Committee and the Farm Hi!! Neighborhood Association, spoke in favor of wider distribution of the Code Enforcement booklet and use of utility bi!!s to dissemination of City information. Cliff Keely, 766 Canyon Road, Redwood City, encouraged staff to press other agencies who own property and rights of ways in Redwood City to take responsibility for their appearances, and use the press to get the message of more vigorous code enforcement out to the public. No one else wished to speak. Councilman Ruskin summed up the Committee's considerations: . Staff to take a far more proactive approach towards code enforcement to get ahead of the curve and reach the level where normal maintenance will keep properties within Code; . Committee wi!! evaluate staffmg levels, budget and available resources; . Committee wi!! consider how to involve entire City staff in code enforcement, and how best to use citizen volunteers; . Committee to discuss how and what area to target, commercial or residential; Councilman Ruskin said the Committee believed staff should focus on the most flagrant areas of code enforcement violation, amend the parking limit to 72 hours, and concentrate on commercial areas, which wi!! have more impact: . Visible impacts can be measured; . Increased pride will be transferred to residential if commercial areas proceed; .
