I . . <br /> including the Aqua Terra Project, removing graffiti and picking-up shopping carts. <br /> Member Vollmayer advised Council they had brought a video of the Committee's <br /> activities and would like to show it to the Council at another time. <br /> L MEMO 10/29/96 <br /> Council Members thanked the Committee Members for their energy and active <br /> participation in clean-up programs in Redwood City, varied scope of work, <br /> extraordinary service and accomplishments, and encouraged them to be active in the <br /> City's programs focusing on code enforcement as well as beautification. <br /> 3) Historic Resources Advisory Committee; <br /> REPORT: Historic Resources Advisory Committee, August 27,1996 <br /> Chairperson Ken Rolandelli elaborated on several of the points discussed in the <br /> Committee's Report to Council: The Committee's book, The Historic Walking Tour <br /> of Redwood City; National Preservation Week activities for school children and tour of <br /> Lathrop House, the Court House and the Fox Theatre; Main/MiddIefield excavation <br /> that has unearthed over 600 artifacts that will soon be on display; bringing the San <br /> Mateo County Historical Association to Redwood City; developing the Main Street <br /> Historical District; and the Mezes Plaza and Franklin area excavation protocols. <br /> Council thanked the Committee for its emphasis on providing historical experiences to <br /> the youth of Redwood City and protecting historical artifacts. <br /> ~ <br /> Vice Mayor Howard complimented Chairman RolandelIi for being featured in a <br /> Texas newspaper as an expert commentator on Historical Preservation and archways in <br /> Redwood City. <br /> 4) Child Care Advisory Committee; <br /> REPORT: Child Care Advisory Committee, October 21,1996 <br /> Bobby Lewis and Karen Peterson, members of the Child Care Advisory Committee <br /> provided background on the Child Care Policy and position of Child Care Coordinator <br /> in Redwood City. They described the Committee's objective "to support community <br /> child care and preschool programs by initiating a Provider Action Group which would <br /> involve them in taking action together to meet common needs." They also described <br /> the Committee sponsored "Day in the Park" and the Committee's plans for a schooI- <br /> age child care facility at Sandpiper Park Community Center. <br /> Council thanked the Committee for its accomplishments and for reaching out into the <br /> community with quality child care options.
