Group I oceupancies constructed on <br /> the roof of multiple storied buildings shall be considered <br /> as an additional story insofar as the construction, location, <br /> exposure to f ire, stairs, exits, and fire extinguishing <br /> apparatus are concerned. <br /> "Walls providing separation between a dwelling and a <br /> carport (herein defined as a roofed structure used for the <br /> purpose of housing automobiles, having two sides open but <br /> which open sides may be enclosed by walls no more than four <br /> feet in height) shall meet the fire resistance requirements <br /> for a one hour fire resistance period as provided in <br /> Chapter 43 of the Building Code. All windows in the walls <br /> of carports shall be fixed and be of wired glass or approved <br /> fire retardant fiber glass. Windows in carport walls shall <br /> not be considered as contributing required light to any <br /> room unless the carport roof over the window is open to the <br /> sky for a distance of f ive feet from the wall containing <br /> the windows for a length of at least one and one-half times <br /> the width of the window on both sides. <br /> "Doors from dwellinqs opening into a carport area shall <br /> be as specified in Section 503(d) . Doors from bedrooms shall <br /> not open into a carport area." <br /> SECTION 10. Section 1704 of the Building Code is hereby <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> '�Section 1704.
