REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04
1 We don't want to tell anybody unfairly what
( 2 to do with their - - with their land, but they
3 already knew before they bought it that they would
4 have to break all the rules in order to do this.
5 We've never been shown a precedent other
6 than Vancouver or someplace far away. All they
7 have to do is look at Emeryville or Albany, they
8 didn't have to go that far to find a precedent for
9 the magnitude of a project like this.
10 We'll be setting the precedent, the City
11 Council, by encouraging towering walls and not
12 reflecting concrete mass, not only out at Pete's
13 Harbor, but eventually throughout Cargil's
(
14 remaining salt ponds, not reflective glass
15 buildings like Oracles that reflect the water and
16 the sky, but concrete mass buildings.
17 stay on track, stay within the General Plan
18 and height limitations, don't endanger our downtown
19 plan. stick to the goal of every town on the
20 Peninsula, TODs, transit-oriented developments near
21 downtown.
22 Look ,at articles in the paper, new housing
23 now on track, development projects spring up and
24 around transit lines; unfortunately they're not
\ 25 talking about Redwood City, they should be.
UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 102
(650) 952-0774
..
