REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04
And there's many reasons why at many
I 2 levels. One of the most' important, from a personal
perspective, is economic development.
Myself and Council Member Ruskin sat on a
task force about a year ago with Joint Venture
Silicon Valley Network. You talked to ten
different CEOs, I talked to labor leaders, I talked
to other elected officials, one of the reasons that
we're in such a difficult situation in attracting
quality companies to the area is because we can't
house their employees. That is a problem and it
will continue.
This is a project that has gone through
several reiterations, and I -- I think there comes
a point where nothing is perfect, life isn't
perfect, we weren't put here for it to all be
perfect. But we've got some really good things,
we're creating 1,900 housing units, we are
potentially bringing three million per year in
revenue to the City once it is developed, that's a
.
tremendous physical impact. That sets aside the
one billion in investment that this company,
developer, whatever you want to call them, is
willing to invest in our community.
I -- I want to see those dollars. I want
UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 215
(650) 952-0774
.,-
