<br /> REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04 <br /> 1 people to live and work in Redwood City. <br />i 2 And I look at very personal example, <br /> a <br /> 3 Redwood Shores, that's where I live, that's where <br /> 4 I'm from. There's 15,000 residents, I have a <br /> 5 guess, about 22 years ago now, there's the same <br /> 6 group of individuals, maybe a little younger, <br /> 7 sitting in the audience talking about the fact that <br /> 8 Redwood Shores shouldn't happen. Redwood City <br /> 9 stepped up to the plate, annexed the land, and over <br /> 10 the course of time it developed. <br /> 11 It's a beautiful community. We have <br /> 12 wonderful things out there. We're starting to feel <br /> 13 more a part of Redwood City. Many of us, you know, <br />I <br /> 14 are working towards that goal. <br /> 15 This is an opportunity to create another <br /> 16 neighborhood and another community. And it brings <br /> 17 us housing, it brings us 300 affordable housing <br /> 18 units. That hasn't been seen, if I'm not mistaken, <br /> 19 on the Peninsula in I don't know how many years. <br /> 20 We have 84 affordable units at City Center <br /> 21 Plaza. <br /> 22 I think - - I'm a little perturbed at a few <br /> 23 insinuations tonight. And I'm going to be really <br /> 24 honest, I don't like when people stand up and say <br /> 25 that we're being bought or persuaded or in the <br /> UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 216 <br /> (650) 952-0774 <br /> .- , <br />
