<br /> <br />Red Morton Community Park Sports Lighting Initial Study <br />City of Redwood City 67 June 2015 <br />Myrtle Street is a north-south residential street that begins north at Jefferson Avenue and ends <br />approximately 800 feet south at the parking lot directly east of Mitchell Field. Myrtle Street is <br />immediately east of Mitchell Field. <br /> <br />King Street is a north-south residential street that begins at Vera Avenue (east of the park) and ends <br />at Oak Avenue in the south. King Street is on the east side of Red Morton Community Park. <br /> <br />4.16.1.2 Existing Roadway Volumes <br /> <br />Hexagon conducted tube counts on roadways within the immediate project vicinity on a typical <br />Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Counts were completed on Myrtle Street south of Jefferson <br />Avenue, Madison Avenue west of Myrtle Street, Valota Road north of Vera Avenue, and Roosevelt <br />Avenue west of McKinley Street. Hourly PM volumes are shown on Table 4.16-1. The count results <br />show that Myrtle Street and Madison Avenue are low volume streets with 57 to 133 PM peak hour <br />trips (5:00 to 6:00 PM), while Valota Road and Roosevelt Avenue have relatively higher volumes, <br />with 525 to 653 PM peak hour trips (5:00 to 6:00 PM). Existing sidewalks are also found along both sides of most residential <br />streets in the vicinity of the site. Crosswalks located at the intersections of Madison Avenue/Hawes <br />Street, Madison Avenue/Nevada Street, Madison Avenue/St. Francis Street, Valota Road/Roosevelt <br />Avenue, and Roosevelt Avenue/Sanchez Way provide access to the site. <br /> <br />Bike lanes are provided along Roosevelt Avenue, Valota Road, and Jefferson Avenue in the vicinity <br />of the site. <br /> <br />Transit service in the area is provided by the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). Bus <br />Routes in the vicinity of the site include Route 79 on Roosevelt Avenue and Route 274 on Jefferson <br />Avenue. Route 79 provides service from Florence Street/17th Avenue and Connecticut <br />Drive/Washington Avenue on weekdays during school hours. Route 274 provides service between <br />the Redwood City Transit Center and Cañada College on weekdays between roughly 6:00 AM and <br />10:30 PM. The Redwood City Caltrain Station is located at 1 James Avenue, roughly 1.5 miles north <br />of the site. <br />8.A. - Page 84
