She requested that people in the audience from the Redwood <br /> Oaks Neighborhood to stand and be recognized. A large percentage of the audience <br /> stood. <br /> Erin Callaghan, Central Avenue, Redwood City described past history of the <br /> neighborhood, a previous establishment at the same location and problems with traffic, <br /> litter, parking and safety. <br /> Bob Bryant, 2580 El Camino Real, Redwood City, owns the restaurant next door to <br /> the House Buffet and discussed potential parking problems this restaurant would cause <br /> at Mel's Bowl. <br /> Ray Brooks, Center Street, Redwood City, member of the Redwood Oaks <br /> Neighborhood Association discussed problems the dance facility would cause for the <br /> neighborhood. <br /> Beth Ross, Price Avenue, Redwood City, Community Organizer for the South County <br /> Coalition for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, stated she has worked with the <br /> Redwood Oaks Neighborhood for the last two years and assisted with the original <br /> planning of the drug free zone near Fleishman Park. The neighbors would love to see <br /> the restaurant succeed but they are concerned that a dancing facility will have a <br /> negative impact on the neighborhood. <br /> Lori Barker, Murray Court, Redwood City, stated she is not in favor of the nightclub <br /> in this area. <br /> Maria Stockton, Fox Court East, Redwood City, expressed concern with the process <br /> of neighborhood meeting notification and would like to see the permit issued on a <br /> probationary basis. <br /> Geri Myers, Broadway, Redwood City, would like the appeal put on the hold for <br /> further investigation to work out details. <br /> Councilwoman Buchan requested Police Officer Sousa step forward to discuss the <br /> impact this restaurant/dance club may have on the neighborhood. In 1988 there was a <br /> similar establishment at the same location that presented several problems.
