<br /> Mayor Gasparini requested more information about port maritime growth and water use <br /> issues. Port Chairman Dodge advised that most of the larger tenants bring in products by <br /> water. <br /> Mayor Gasparini advised that the current land owner is not the Port or the City of <br /> Redwood City. <br /> Vice Mayor Hartnett requested more clarification on the philosophical view of the <br /> Planning Commission on the use of the undeveloped site, the demand for heavy industrial <br /> use on the site verses the current development project and the benefits for Redwood City. <br /> Planning Commissioner Giannini stated that the site has a lot of potential and the <br /> economics of real estate should dictate what is the highest and best use of the land. <br /> Planning Commissioner Bursak stated the project is not a greater or lesser benefit to <br /> Redwood City than if the land was used for heavy industrial purposes but prefers to see a <br /> single use for the area to avoid land compatibility issues. <br /> Planning Commissioner Garcia discussed recycling requirements and felt that it seemed <br /> more natural to put in more recycling facilities. <br /> Planning Commissioner Watry emphasized the importance of making sure the neighbors <br /> are satisfied. <br /> In response to a question from Vice Mayor Hartnett, Port Chairman Dodge stated that <br /> if the Port had more land they could open up more dialogue with perspective tenants. <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> Mayor Gasparini declared a recess at 9:50 P.M. <br /> Mayor Gasparini reconvened the meeting at 10:00 P.M. <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 6. Mark Adams, 699 Seaport Blvd., Redwood City, Sims Lmc Recyclers spoke on behalf of <br /> the tenants and landowners at the Port of Redwood City and discussed the concerns of the <br /> project i.e. traffic and compatibility issues and the reality of the EIR. <br /> B. Bill Montgomery, 775 Seaport Blvd., Redwood City, stressed the importance of <br /> compatibility Ïssues of the property. <br /> C.
