<br /> Mayor Gasparini read the proclamation commemorating POW-MIA Day and POW-MIA <br /> Recognition Week, September 10-16, 1995, and presented it to World War II <br /> Commemorative Chairman Carlos Flores who thanked the Mayor and introduced Mike <br /> Salome, former POW, and California State Chairman of the POW-MIA <br /> Commission, who urged everyone to write to their representatives urging the return of all <br /> POW-MIAs. <br /> C. Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Redwood City <br /> Finance Department, awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the <br /> United States and Canada; (207) <br /> Mayor Gasparini presented the plaque to Judy Somers, Redwood City Financial <br /> Services Manager, who thanked the Council for its support and recognition and thanked <br /> the Redwood City Financial Department for its fine work over the years. Mayor Gasparini <br /> announced that this was the 8th consecutive year the Finance Department had won this <br /> award. <br /> D. Request by Paul Vega of Young Latino Leaders for Council support of Dia De La Raza <br /> Festival at Hoover Park on October 8, 1995. (101) <br /> Paul Vega, Director of Young Latino Leaders, described the Dia De La Raza Festival to <br /> be held October 8, 1995, in Hoover Park to raise money for scholarships, and asked for <br /> Redwood City's support of this regional festival.
