Councilwoman Howard, the other member of the Council's Committee on homeless and transitional shelters, advised that a Blue Ribbon Committee had for the past five years tried to establish three permanent transition shelters, north, central and south County, but had been unsuccessful. Councilwoman Howard stated that Redwood City had been very generous in reaching out to people in need with many programs, and wanted to see other cities get as involved. Councilwoman Howard advised she would give an updated report to the Housing and Human Concerns Committee on this issue. MEMO 9/19/95 B. Announcements by Council Members Councilwoman Howard advised that on September 19, 1995, she would accompany the Redwood City Fire Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff s Office to see how Project Aqua Terra (clean-up of Redwood City's sloughs) was progressing, and would report back to Council next week. Councilwoman Howard announced the following events: September 21, League of Women Voters 75th anniversary at the Hotel Sofitel; September 22, the Kainos Pageant at Kainos; and on September 23 the PCS is hosting a fundraiser at the Fox Theatre for the Peninsula Humane Society. Councilman Sanfilipo, candidate for Council, agreed with Frank Bravo, Sequoia Alumni Association, that the Sequoia High School Centennial events were very, very successful, and announced that Ken Ro1andelli, Chairman of the Redwood City Historic Resources Advisory Board, and his committee did an outstanding job on the Centennial Ball and PICnIC.
