C. Joe Steinfeld, 850 Main Street, candidate for City Council, talked about the recent sewer break and resulting contamination, and called for a public hearing with the police, public and City staff to discuss staffing, morale, public safety and community policing issues in the Police Department. Mayor Pro Tem Hartnett and City Attorney Schricker advised that a private contractor working in Redwood Shores inadvertently punctured a sewer main causing the break, which was immediately noticed to the public and local and state agencies, with all appropriate steps taken.
