<br /> A. Proclamation proclaiming Make a Difference Day in Redwood City, October 28, 1995,
<br /> encouraging everyone to "seek out opportunities to incorporate core ethical values into our
<br /> work with young people and to model traits of good character in an ongoing commitment
<br /> to promote character development and ethical behavior among the youth of our
<br /> community." Mayor Gasparini referred to Councilwoman Howard's announcement last
<br /> week that Hoover School had been chosen as the Make a Difference project in Redwood
<br /> City, and encouraged everyone to join in this worthwhile community effort.
<br /> Mayor Gasparini read the proclamation and presented it to Councilwoman Howard,
<br /> Chair of the Pride and Beautification Committee, Roxanne Dragan, Hoover School Parent
<br /> Liaison and teacher, Maria Bautista, Hoover School Site Council President and parent,
<br /> Wendy Bautista, student, Vanessa Sepulveda, student, Christina Lopez, Student, Bea Soto,
<br /> Community representative, and Jeanne Roehm, member of the Pride and Beautification
<br /> Committee.
<br /> Roxanne Dragan, Hoover School Parent Liaison and teacher described the activities
<br /> planned for Make a Difference Day on October 28, 1995, at Hoover School and thanked
<br /> many more people from the community and City staff for their support, including, Magda
<br /> Gonzalez, Ed Reilly, Sgt. Manry, Carolyn McLaurin, Gordon Mann, Ralph Pacheco, the
<br /> Pride and Beautification Committee and many corporations including BFI and Home
<br /> Depot.

<br /> REPORT: Housing and Human Concerns Committee Work Plan, Oct 95-Sep 26.
<br /> Committee Members present: Ian Bain, Stephanie Dean, Charles Greer, Susan Keely,
<br /> Kathleen Mahany, Patricia Nordby, Ira Ruskin, Council representative Councilwoman
<br /> Howard, and Planning Commission representative Michael Verdone.
<br /> Chairman Greer introduced the Committee's speakers and goals: Ian Bain,
<br /> candidate for Council, spoke about goal No.1) the Mission Statement revision process;
<br /> Ira Ruskin, candidate for Council, spoke about goal No.2) evaluating and refining
<br /> allocation process and conducting site visits; and, Stephanie Dean spoke about goal
<br /> No.3) advocating and facilitating affordable housing with the focus on a housing/jobs
<br /> balance.
