<br /> Council and staff discussed the history of Redwood City and other local agencies' <br /> attempts to have their Housing Elements approved by the State, and the change in the <br /> climate at the State level that now bodes well for approvals. <br /> Council complimented the Housing and Human Concerns Committee Members for <br /> their commitment to visit and evaluate each and every site receiving funding, and their <br /> proactive stance towards affordable housing. <br /> Council thanked Housing Coordinator Debbie Jones-Thomas and her staff and the <br /> Planning Commission liaison for their support of HHCC, and encouraged members of <br /> the HHCC to interact with other boards, committees, commissions and agencies to <br /> educate and facilitate dissemination of information about Redwood City programs. <br /> HHCC member Dean told the Council how hard the Committee worked to fairly <br /> allocate City funds and present those recommendations to Council, and thanked the <br /> Council for accepting the Committee's recommendations without change during the <br /> budget process. <br /> 2) Planning Commission; <br /> REPORT: Planning Commission Annual Work Program <br /> Commission Members present: Kenneth McCoy, Roland Giannini, Michael Verdone, <br /> and Ralph Garcia. <br /> Chairman McCoy introduced his colleagues, described the Planning Commission as <br /> reactive, responding to issues brought to the Commission's attention, and listed <br /> possible future projects. Chairman McCoy advised that the Commission's decisions <br /> stem from the Council's goals and objectives, the City's General Plan is used as the <br /> Commission's guideline, revision of the Land Use Element would be its main goal in <br /> the upcoming year, and described the Commission's intention to work with the HHCC <br /> on the Housing Element. <br /> Council asked the Planning Commissioners to include youth activities and interests in <br /> their work plan and their land use decisions, contact the Red Oak Neighborhood and <br /> address their concerns regarding El Camino Real, and consider entry features all along <br /> El Camino Real. <br /> MEMO 10/17/95 <br /> Commissioner Garcia expressed his concerns regarding lack of Code Enforcement. <br /> MINUTE BOOK NO. 53 <br /> Study Session Minutes Page No. 381 <br /> October 16, 1995 <br /> Page 3 <br /> ..
