Council, staff and audience members applauded the efforts and success of Redwood
City Building Official John LaTorra.
Councilman Sanfilipo read a letter from long time Board of Building Review
member, William Addiego, who credited Mr. LaTorra, who is also Chairman of the
United States Plumbing Codes, as being a "master of masters" in the field of uniform
codes.
Mayor Gasparini asked that the Board of Building Review add working closely with
the Architectural Advisory Committee and the Planning Commission as one of its
objectives.
MEMO 10/17/95
Mayor Gasparini suggested that it would be useful if a focus group or forum was
established that would invite developers, contractors, etc. to participate in a focus
group to hear the concerns and ideas and congratulations about Redwood City
streamlining processes; asking what the City could do better, what are their issues, and
have the Architectural Advisory Committee and the Planning Commission and the
Board of Building Review be the hosts or sponsors of this focus group to educate the
developers about the efforts of the City to streamline.
5) Traffic Advisory Committee;
REPORT: Traffic Advisory Committee Charter, 1995-96 Work Program, Work Plan,
and Bikeways Subcommittee
Committee Members present: Erin Callaghan, Patricia Dixon, Don Frohlich and
Jeanne Roehm
Chairwoman Dixon described the Committee's past accomplishments, its number one
goal of public safety and its education efforts. She advised that each Committee
member lived in a different part of the City and each was committed to be out in the
community to listen to what people wanted. Chairwoman Dixon stated that in the
future the Committee wanted to be officially invited to the Planning Commission and
other groups when traffic concerns were being discussed, and that people should bring
traffic concerns to the Committee first, not to the Council.
Committee Member Frohlich advised the Council that the Committee was becoming
more active, it could become a valuable tool to staff, and asked that citizen-reported
traffic problems not be referred to staff, but referred to the Traffic Advisory
Committee.
MINUTE BOOK NO~ 53
page No. 384
Study Session Minutes
October 16, 1995
Page 6
