Councilmembers discussed the ten-year problem-plagued history of the property, the existing extensive damage, and the need to eliminate this slum and abate the deteriorating property before it poses a bigger problem. c; c,< Kathleen Mahany, member of the Housing and Human Concerns Committee, asked Council for assurance that the abatement proceedings were binding on Bay View Federal. City Attorney Schricker advised that the Council's decision would be binding on any owner of the property and new hearings would not be necessary. In response to Council questions, City Attorney Schricker advised that although the Council could approve the 30-day extension, the law requires that the owners must take positive steps to abate the nuisance within 30-days. 4.
