<br />Councilmembers discussed the ten-year problem-plagued history of the <br />property, the existing extensive damage, and the need to eliminate this <br />slum and abate the deteriorating property before it poses a bigger <br />problem. c; <br /> c,< <br />Kathleen Mahany, member of the Housing and Human Concerns Committee, <br />asked Council for assurance that the abatement proceedings were binding <br />on Bay View Federal. City Attorney Schricker advised that the Council's <br />decision would be binding on any owner of the property and new hearings <br />would not be necessary. <br />In response to Council questions, City Attorney Schricker advised that <br />although the Council could approve the 30-day extension, the law requires <br />that the owners must take positive steps to abate the nuisance within <br />30-days. <br />4.
