The Appeal to be granted and the Use Permit denied on the grounds that the establishment, maintenance, or operation of the use applied for would, under the circumstances of this particular case, be detrimental to the health, safety, ,peaee-'fii"monals, comfort and general welfare of persons residing or working in the neighborhood of the proposed use and to property and improvements in the neighborhood and to the general welfare of the City in that: The proposed use would conflict with the predominately industrial/ commercial uses of property in the vicinity of the property which is the subject of the application for the Use Permit because it would: 1) constitute a safety hazard for pedestrians visiting the site; 2) create traffic congestion and related hazardous conditions; and 3) overburden existing on-street parking, creating related hazardous conditions conducive to property damage and personal injury; Signed IslMayor Buchan CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. Councilwoman Gasparini announced that Councilwoman La Berge had been named the Businesswoman of the Year for 1993 by the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce and would receive the Athena Award at the dinner sponsored by the Chamber on January 26, 1994. The announcement was greeted with much applause and Councilwoman Gasparini invited everyone to attend. C. Councilwoman Steinfeld asked staff for information regarding the upcoming Council study session on public safety issues.
