------- —`v 11
Potential Suoplementa!Sunplies
Per CWC 10631(c)(2),a suppiier is required to describe pians to supplement or replace its water
source(s) with alternative sources or water demand management measures, to the extent
practicable. Also, per CWC Section 10631(g►, the 2015 UWMP must include a detailed
description of expected future projects and programs that the water supplier may implement
to increase the amount of the water supply available to the urban water suppiier in average,
single-dry, and multiple-dry water years. As part of this effort, EKI will work closely with the
City to asses which supplemental sources of supply {e.g. recycled water, additional
groundwater, water exchange, water transfers, water conservation or other supply sources),
and what volumes,ae likely to be developed as part of the City's future water supply portfolio.
Recvded Water SuvaJv
Per CWC Section 10633,the 2015 UWMP must provide,to the extent available, information on
recycled water and its potential for use as a water source in the service area of the urban water
supplier. Further, per CWC Section 10620(f), a water supplier shall describe the management
tools and options used by that entity to maximize resources and minimize the need to import
water from other regions. As described previously, the usage of locally available recycled water
is a cornerstone of the City's efforts to augment local supplies and reduce dependence on
imported water. The City is currently in "Phase 2" of its efforts to expand recycled water
infrastructure to central Redwood City and other areas west of Highway 101. Upon completion
of Phase 2, the City will be equipped to satisfy an additional 780 AFY of demand for recycled
water from existing customers and anticipated new developments. In addition, the City will be
positioned to become a supplier of recycled water to other cities throughout the region. The
Cits efforts to develop and market its recycled water will be described in detail in the UWMP
based on data, sources and information provided by the City.
Evaluate Current and Future Groundwater Supplies
Per CWC Section 10631(b), if groundwater is identified as an existing source of water available
to the supplier, substantial information must be included in the UWMP, including a detailed
description and analysis of the location, amount, and sufficiency of groundwater pumped by
the urban water supplier for the past five years, and information regarding groundwater quality
and management. While groundwater has not historically been a source of supply for the City,
the City and some large private developers have conducted some initial investigations in its
ability to use groundwater. In addition the City's neighbors, including the City of Menlo Park,
have initiated efforts to develop groundwater for at least an emergency supply source. If
requested by the City, EKI will include a discussion of the City's potential to utilize groundwater
in the 2015 UWMP.
Evaluation of Water Qualitv Data
Per CWC Section 10634, the 2015 UWMP will have to inctude information, to the extent
practicable, relating to the quality of existing sources of water available to the supplier. EKl will
review historica! water quality data, including information contained in the 2010 UWMP and
Page 21
Redwood Qry Public Waks Services Depstment 2015 UWMP (EKI BS-078)
ATTY/AGR.2015.248/EKI - Development of 2015 Urban Water Management Plan
