matter, but the Police Chief refused. Mr. Steinfeld suggested the residents ask Sheriff Horsley to
be present.
Mayor Buchan advised she and the Police Chief had talked to Mr. Rodine of the Mobile Home
Park, and he, Mr. Engle, Mr. Phillips and the sponsors of the meeting agreed that the
arrangements that have been made were satisfactory.
Mr. Steinfeld referred to three letters he had submitted to Council last week and the City
Attorney's letter to him requesting more information about the letters. Garrett of
Great Western denying the charges of intimidation against Janet Steinfeld.
Vice Mayor Claire told Mr. Steinfeld that this matter was closed. Mr. Steinfeld said it was not
closed and Vice Mayor Claire repeated that it was closed. Vice Mayor Claire stated that the
Personnel Committee had made its report to Council and that report is on record.
Mayor Buchan admonished Mr. Steinfeld for continuing to talk about this matter, advised that
the matter was over with, told him that his time was up, and asked him to sit down. He did so.
B. Joe Staudt, 2611 Broadway, Redwood City advised Council that he was concerned with the
sidewalks on the 2600 block of Broadway; and that several years ago he and his fellow business
owners were promised new and wider sidewalks. Mr. Staudt asked when were the improvements
going to begin. Councilwoman La Berge asked Mr. Staudt to get his neighbors involved, and
City Manager Everett asked Mr. Staudt to contact him tomorrow and he would supply the
information Mr. Staudt was seeking about the Broadway Improvement Plan. Councilwoman
Steinfeld advised she had heard from other businesses on Broadway that due to the economic
downturn they wished to delay certain improvements. Councilwoman Gasparini suggested Mr.
Staudt attend the April 22, 1994, Store Front Improvements Project meeting to be held at the Main
Library.
MEMO 4/19/94
2.
