4 | Page

Board Title: Feedback by Transportation Mode
Prompt: What do you like about the pilot reconfiguration? What would you change about
it, when are you walking, riding a bike?
Walking
At pedestrian crossings, add flashing yellow lights and/or flags to increase safety (similar
to what you have Stulsaft Park)
No change McGarvey to Stulsaft park was safe before and safe now
Add lighting to pedestrian crossing. Hard to see in the dark (Jefferson at Farm Hill
particularly)
I love it! I can run in the street now!! My dog and I and a bike can all fit without getting
hit by cars! Can look both ways perpendicular stop at all stop signs‐ there are walkers
and runners coming from both directions
I live on Farm Hill and walk 3 kids and a dog 2+ times a day to school and park. THANK
YOU for making it easier to get out of my driveway (even during rush hour). I feel safer
walking kids with cars further away. Slower traffic feels safer and is safer. Thank you for
the ability to walk and bike. I now allow my 9 year old to bike down the street since the
redesign.
Biking
I am 12 and before you put the bike lanes, I wasn’t able to go downtown Redwood City
easily, so I am very thankful for the bike lanes! =] I support this project. Also I am
thinking of going to Sequoia High School and I now will be able to bike. Environment
Healthy.
I’ve noticed that there are fewer bicyclists in the last month or so on Farm Hill. I live
near Emerald Hill and I see at least 2‐3 bikes (I see them usually at 8:30am or so going
uphill); however in the spring and summer there are usually many more.
Why not have a consistent design for the entire length of street? Seems like that’d be
safer
More educational and clearer road signs about what “sharrows” mean, i.e., that cyclists
are able to use the full lane when necessary, such as at the climb to the intersection of
Farm Hill and Emerald. (CVC 21202)
Consistency/predictability of the bike lane shape (and the presence of the buffer zone)
is key to the safety of the bike lane. If it keeps shifting distance from the sidewalk, it’s
frustrating
Thank you for making Jefferson and farm Hill safe for walking and biking. (I Agree!)
I bike regularly now on Farm Hill. Thank you for putting bike lanes on the street
8.A. - Page 47
