2
International Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) – Serving Immigrant Victims of
Violent Crime. IIBA provides high-quality immigration legal services, education,
and civic engagement opportunities to immigrants, refugees and their families as
they join and contribute to the community. IIBA's “Serving Immigrant Victims of
Violent Crimes” project will educate and assist low-income Redwood City
immigrants who have been victims of domestic violence and other violent crimes,
so that they can legally secure immigration relief through the 'U Visa' and
advance along the path towards U.S. Citizenship, based on the immigration law
that was specifically designed by Congress to increase public safety for
immigrants and for the entire community. Funding Requested: $20,000. Funding
Recommended: $10,000.

Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County – Homesavers: Preserving
Affordable Housing in Our Community. The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo
County works to bring fairness to the County’s housing courts, helps to keep low-
income tenants in their affordable homes, and mitigates the effects of a potential
eviction. Legal Aid does this by providing legal advice and services to about 100
clients each month at three weekly housing clinics, including a Landlord/Tenant
Clinic at the San Mateo County Superior Court in Redwood City and a Tenant’s
Clinic at the Fair Oaks Community Center. Legal Aid attorneys, project staff, and
trained pro bono attorneys meet one-on-one with clients at the housing clinics
where they answer questions, provide legal advice, help with the completion of
legal paperwork, and explain to clients what to expect in the county’s housing
courts. Funding Requested: $20,000. Funding Recommended: $10,000.

Peninsula Family Service – Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center.
Peninsula Family Service strengthens the community by providing children,
families, and older adults the support and tools to realize their full potential and
lead healthy, stable lives. Funding from HSFA will support the core nutritional
and wellness services for older adults age 60 and over at the Fair Oaks Adult
Activity Center in Redwood City. These services are integrated with a menu of
services comprising the wellness model at the Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center.
The model is designed to make a long term impact on the health and wellness of
vulnerable, primarily low-income older adults. Funding Requested: $20,000.
Funding Recommended: $10,000.

Peninsula Volunteers, Inc – Meals on Wheels (MOW). PVI Meals on Wheels is
the sole provider of home delivered meals to eligible older adults and adults with
disabilities in Redwood City. There are three components to the program:
1) Food Security and Healthy Food:. MOW delivers hot, nutritious meals to
program participants 252 days per year, with additional meals provided for
holidays and weekend meals to eligible recipients.
2) Safety Check: The daily safety and wellness check provided by the delivery
personnel, is vital to the safety and well-being of the participants. It has
proven to be a literal life-saver on many occasions every year!
6.1.C. - Page 5
