Mayor Gee took comment on the issue of the proposed committee. Council Member <br /> Pierce noted that she had to recuse herself on the Farm Hill topic. Mayor Gee asked <br /> speakers who wanted to speak on the Complete Streets Committee to come forward. <br /> Ms. Thompson, City Attorney, said Council Member Pierce is not conflicted on this item. <br /> Mayor Gee welcomed speakers on the topic of Complete Streets Committee. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Emma Shales, from Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, mentioned the benefits of this <br /> committee and shared what other cities (where this committee is already in place) are <br /> doing. She spoke in support of a Complete Streets Committee as a way to ensure <br /> transparency and community involvement. <br /> Andrew Boone spoke about his experience in attending the informal group meetings <br /> and he values these meetings to change streets to make them more accessible and <br /> safer for bicycling and for pedestrians. He spoke in favor of having a more informal <br /> format for future meetings to allow everyone to talk. <br /> Adina Levin spoke about her experience with this type of committee and how she would <br /> prefer it report directly to the Council. She was very appreciative of the Council action <br /> and the report which would include all multimodal users. <br /> Ty Tyson spoke in regards to the issue of tracking the employment, including people <br /> who live in unincorporated Emerald Hills, and who also use our roads, and incorporating <br /> engineers on this committee. <br /> Mathew Self lives in Emerald Hills, outside of city limits, and he would like to see people <br /> who are in sphere of influence or work in this city be included on the committee. <br /> Bob Page recently relocated from Woodside to Redwood City and spoke in support of <br /> having seven members on the committee instead of five members in order to have <br /> representation over a broad range of users and neighborhoods. <br /> Mayor Gee asked if there was anyone else who wanted to speak on this issue and one <br /> Council Member said he is glad to see this moving forward and provided some historical <br /> perspective sharing his excitement on getting so much public input. <br /> M/S Pierce/Aguirre to approve the staff resolution and have staff review if Emerald Hills <br /> should be included and then if staff does not think this is a good idea to come back and <br /> the Council can decide. One Council Member inquired if this limits the number of <br /> people being from outside the city and this Councit Member would support this if we <br /> limit to only one member being from outside the City limits. The maker accepted this <br /> modification as stated because input can be provided in other ways from stakeholders <br /> and people from outside the City.
