He spoke about the benefits that have resulted from the effort to fund special <br />benefits to the downtown. The first year budget was $788,937.00, 54% of which went <br />towards sidewalk operations. Mr. Brooks detailed the parcels that are being removed <br />from the CBID. <br />Mayor Gee opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br />M/S Aguirre/Pierce to close the public hearing. Motion carried by unanimous roll call <br />vote. <br />Recommendation: <br />1. Hold a public hearing and consider oral and written testimony regarding the removal <br />of seven parcels from the Community Benefit Improvement District. <br />2. If the hearing is favorable, adopt a resolution ordering the modification of the <br />Management District Plan for CBID in order to remove the parcels <br />from the CBID. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15442 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />MODIFYING THE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT PLAN OF THE DOWNTOWN REDWOOD <br />CITY COMMUNITY BENEFIT IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT TO REMOVE CERTAIN <br />PARCELS <br /> <br />M/S Aguirre/Pierce to approve the resolution. Motion carried 6-0-1 by roll call vote, <br />with Council Member Howard recused. <br /> <br />Mayor Gee, Vice Mayor Foust, and Council Member Aguirre thanked Mr. Brooks for the <br />work he put in this item. <br /> <br />9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> <br />Council Member Pierce reported going on a tour of the local watershed with BAWSCA <br />(Bay Area Water Service Conservation Agency) and the SFPUC (San Francisco Public <br />Utilities Commission). She stated this is the longest four-year period of drought in a <br />thousand years. She noted that the SFPUC gives docent tours of some of its hiking <br />trails, and they will be working on the Bay Area Ridge Trail. <br /> <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> <br />Partnership Redwood City - The Heart of America Foundation Video - Hoover <br />Elementary School, Redwood City, California <br /> <br />The Council watched a video about the makeover of the Hoover School Library. Mayor <br />Gee stated that Council approved the framework for Partnership Redwood City earlier <br />this year, which includes in-lieu fees, impact fees, employer engagement, and employee <br />engagement. A local company, AbbVie, adopted the Hoover School Library and did the <br />library makeover. Every student also got five free books when they registered for their <br />classes at the school.
