'� <br /> � <br /> Kris Johnson thanked the City Manager and Karen Vaughn for being responsive and careful. <br /> Spoke about the Downtown Precise Plan and how community benefit plans are not required. <br /> Clem Molony supports the new building and spoke about transit oriented designs working, once <br /> they are complete. <br /> Victor Torreano spoke on behalf of local sheet metal union workers in support of the project. <br /> Chris Collins spoke about other projects hiring outside of Redwood City and supports this project <br /> because it will use local union workers. <br /> Kris Leja spoke on behalf of Habitat for Humanity to support the project. <br /> Rick Hunter suggested that mechanized parking lifts be considered for project and lower the <br /> building. <br /> Tania Sole spoke about the drought in California and how she has concerns about projects <br /> being approved and water being a concern. <br /> Mayor Gee's recommendation is that the conditions of the settlements be reviewed <br /> carefully and brought back for action. ,,,� <br /> ,, <br /> M/S Foust/Aguirre to continue the public hearing to a future date. Motion carried by roll call � <br /> with Council Member Howard absent. <br /> Council Member Pierce would like to look at the setback and asked why there was no 10 ft. set <br /> back by the historic building, 611 Middlefield. Karen Vaughn explained that parking can have a <br /> zero foot set back and that there was an 18 in. setback for that section of the building. The <br /> applicant explained that they wanted to provide as much parking as they could. She also asked <br /> about using parking lifts, and the applicant explained that you need to have staff to operate <br /> them, also, if needed, the applicant can add more parking, with mechanized lifts you cannot. <br /> Council Member Seybert wants to look at the 17 additional modifications and would like a table <br /> illustrating how the project meets the Downtown Precise Plan. He also wants a comprehensive <br /> discussion about how this project benefits parking in Redwood City. Council Member Seybert <br /> also asked for photo renditions from different views to get a better sense of what the building <br /> would look like. <br /> Council Member Bain said he is reticent to approve this until he has a full new traffic study. He <br /> would like to look at all the new information the Council received before making a decision. He <br /> would like to modify the Downtown Precise Plan and look at heights and parking. He also wants <br /> to look at annual caps to set an appropriate pace. <br /> Council Member Aguirre thanked the community and appreciates the concerns on both sides. It <br /> helps them look at different aspects of the project. She is excited that labor will be part of this. <br /> She also asked about the housing impact from the project.
